Significant Changes to Group I Occupancies – June

June 11 at 12:00 pm
Free – $65.00

Join fellow Building Officials, inspectors, and code professionals for a focused review of Significant Changes to Group I Occupancies under the current Connecticut Building Code. This session will explore important updates affecting Institutional occupancies, including I-1, I-2, I-3, and I-4, with an emphasis on how these changes impact design, plan review, and field enforcement.

Topics will include revisions to occupant classification criteria, fire and life safety requirements, means of egress, smoke compartments, corridor provisions, and allowances for specialized care environments. Special attention will be given to healthcare-related occupancies and the evolving code provisions that address patient safety, staff operations, and emergency response considerations.

Attendees will gain practical insight into applying these updates consistently, identifying common compliance challenges, and navigating complex scenarios often encountered in institutional settings. The discussion will also highlight coordination with other applicable codes and standards that influence Group I occupancies within Connecticut.

As always, the session will encourage open dialogue and peer collaboration, providing an opportunity to share experiences, ask questions, and promote uniform code enforcement across jurisdictions.
